The role of the Parents and Citizens Association

The P&C works together to enhance the experience of all students at Gymea North Public School.   This is achieved through:

  • Input into school policies and procedures.

  • Coming together each month to brainstorm, debate and decide on ways to enrich the learning, social and facilities related requirements of the school.

  • Forms part of the recruitment process for new staff.

  • Operating a profitable canteen with healthy options for students (volunteers always needed).

  • Operating a school uniform shop, where all profits go back into the school.  Refer to the Uniform section for more information.

  • Management of the  book club for students, where profits from the purchases are returned to the school.

  • Management of the school banking program.

  • Hosting  community events at the school such as Orientation Day morning tea and new starter Welcome Day.

  • Fundraising to supplement government funding for items such as playground and sporting equipment, computers, ipads, books, teaching tools plus much more (refer to the Fundraising section for more information).

Getting involved

There are numerous ways you can get involved without taking up too much of your time - every little bit helps.

  • Attend our P&C meetings - held in the staff room at 7pm on the third Tuesday of each month (except school holidays).  This a great opportunity to learn more about what's going on at school, to share your own ideas on areas for change and improvement and be involved in the decision making process.

  • Read the minutes of the P&C meetings and provide input (these are posted onto the website each month).

  • Provide suggestions and feedback on how to improve our School both academically and it’s physical environment.

  • Keep up to date by reading the newsletter, carefully prepared to give you all the info you need on what’s happening at your Child’s School.

  • Assist at some or all of the fundraising events (we understand you’re busy, we all are these days but just an hour or 2 can make the world of difference).

  • Support our fundraising events through volunteering your time and with raffle and stall donations.

  • Help out in the canteen - just one shift a month would be of great help.

  • Purchase your child's uniform/s from our uniform shop.

The P&C welcomes input from parents and the community and is happy to address issues and concerns from you all.
